Evaluating advert

The theme for my advert was a Nike style advert so it would include sports and a bit of action. The advert I choose to evaluate was the Nike Winner Stays advert. The reason I choose this advert was because it has humour and action. in the advert it shows some teenagers playing a game of football and they play winner stays on. They then say "I am" then a famous footballer and they start playing in a stadium. In the advert they are all wearing Nike products for example the football kits they wear are the country or team of the play for. One person shouts Neymar and he turns into Neymar and he is wearing the Brazilian kit which is sponsored by Nike and Nike hypervenom boots which are his signature boot. if the country and club they play for aren't sponsored by Nike and the athlete is they are in Nike football clothes which aren't a team its just there sportswear.

Task 1 Working As A Writer

  • commissioning editors: a commissioning editor generally tells the publishing house which book the publish.
  • producers- Producers hire the camera operators and the rest of the crew so they can start filming.
  • • directors- Directors is who directs the film and generally controls the actors and visualises the script.
  • •script editor: a script editor is a member of the production team who helps produce the script.
  • •agents: agents help promote the script and sell the script to people. Agents also help you get your name out there so you become recognised by more people and get more jobs.

Working as a writer:

  • agent representation is when your agent sells your script of they promote it for a fee.
  • royalty payments are when say a music artist lets his or hers music be on a advert or in a film and they get royalty's from it.
  • professional presentation is when you set out whatever your doing in a professional manor so say a script you set it out properly like a professional like this.

  • time management is when you manage your time carefully like setting goals of what you want to get done in that day, you could say I want to get three or four pages done today and if you set them as your goals you are more likely to archive them.

    Legal and ethical considerations:

  • copyright; When writers are writing they need to copyright their work because if they don't it can be stolen by other people/writers. When the writer has copyrighted his or hers script it must be clearly exposed, for example on the foot (the bottom) of every page so people can see it has been copyrighted and they wont steal the script and if they want to use parts they need the writers permission.
  • bias is when you take someone's side so some journalists would only show one side of the story which might be a lie and they just show what they think they want you to see.
  • censorship;  Censorship, the writers are restricted when it comes to using violence and sex. It is rare to release a film which contains real racial intolerance and sexism. Some people could argue that it is good to show this as it could be positive.
  • watersheds; the watershed is when channels are allowed to show graphic violence, horror, strong language, nudity, sexual intercourse, gambling and drug use after a certain time so in the UK it is 9pm to 5:30am. The rules for the premium channels have been relaxed so they can now show until 6 however shows that are rated 15 cannot be shown outside this period.
  • libel is when you make a story/script and you cant say the persons real name. so if I made a true story about my friend I couldn't use their name.
  • plagiarism is when you steal someone's idea, thoughts, language or expressions but claim it as your own.

Short Film Assignment Task 2

For my research I have looked through different scripts which are relevant to my script one example is Green Street Hooligans script.

The reason I have choose this part of the script is because it shows the confrontation but at this point there is no fighting. in my script it is the same the two lads are confronted on the train.

Christmas advert

When filming the advert we ran into some problems. Our first Idea was to have one person dressed as Santa and two people dressed as elves and they would do various different sports for example football, basketball and going to the gym. When it came to do the advert we had problems with location, the location we were going to use was at Sedgefield community college where we could use there 3G astro turf. The reason we didn't use it was because the weather made it hard to film because of the rain and we didn't want to damage the cameras. Also when it came to the filming we couldn't get the actors as they were busy doing a pantomime and they didn't have much spare time. After a discussion with my group I volunteered to be in the advert and so did Daniel and ben would film. When we came to choose another location we chose Durham University's Stockton campus as it had a astro turf, gym and a huge sports hall. When we came to shoot the advert the weather was miserable so we decided to do the whole thing inside, first we went to the gym and did an hour or two of filming in there with me and Daniel in front of the camera. The next day we went and filmed the football and basketball part but we couldn't film the basketball part as there were no hopes out at the time so we started to football part and got some footage but when we came to watch, it wasn't as good as we hoped. When we went to film the next day the hall was in use so we came back to college and used the college changing rooms as they were available to use and know one was using them. the next day we went back to the hall and it was available to use so we did some more football footage and a lot of basket ball footage. we got back and looked through the footage and it was good so we could start editing, we all have our separate parts so mines was football, bens was the gym and Daniels was basketball. after we all edit our individual ones we make one will all of them in. The reason we chose to do the advert like this is because everyone else in the class was doing things like John Lewis adverts but that's not my style of filming I like filming and making fun videos as I will enjoy filming more if I like the thing I'm filming. another reason I wanted to do this advert was because there isn't many adverts like this and people enjoy and remember adverts that are fun and exciting.
