Filming our advert

Idea: The first idea I thought of was to have two people dressed as elves and one person dressed as Santa and they would be doing different sports and things like playing football, basketball and playing tennis. The reason I thought of there sports was because I have football gear, basketball gear and tennis gear I thought if we chose these sports I could just bring my gear in. As we started casting we realised that the actors we wanted to use were busy and I volunteered to do it myself and after some convincing Daniel did too. After we sorted out what we were going to do we changed the idea and made it so someone walks into a changing room (me) sits down and throws his shoes on the ground in anger, he is then given a box which is wrapped by Santa (Ben) he opens it to find a brand new pair and he walks out the changing room and he goes to the gym, plays football and plays basketball.

storyboard: when it came to the storyboard I told my group about my idea and then we all agreed to do a little part of the storyboard as each of us had a 30 second advert to do. I said I would do the storyboard for the advert which includes all of the 30 second ones as it was my idea.

casting: when it came to casting it was quite difficult, me and ben had some actors in mind as we used them in a previous project. we agreed on three actors and we messaged them via Facebook two of them were happy to do the advert but one didn't get back to us. After having a conversation with two of the actors it turned out they weren't available as they were working on a pantomime and it was a busy time for them so I took it upon myself to be in it. Daniel didn't really want to be in it at first but after some convincing he said he would, Ben also wasn't to keen on being in it but he stepped up when we need an extra person.

collection of equipment: when we came to film we used the cameras from college which we got from the green room, we used these cameras for day one and day two but when it came to the third day there was some confusion and we couldn't use the same camera so we used a SLR camera. we haven't used the SLR that much so we asked Mark for some guidance on how to use certain things once we started filming we got use to it and we enjoyed using it and the quality was good.

location: When it came to location we had two places in mind. one of them was Sedgefield Community College which is mine and Bens old school, the reason we thought there would be a good idea was because the school is a sports college so the sports facilities are great, there is a 3G astro-turf and a huge indoor hall. The other location idea was Durham University's sports Stockton campus which is the one we ended up using, the reason we chose that was because it was close to the college and the facilities are great.

Filming
Day 1: On the first day filming we (me, Daniel and Ben) went to Durham University's sports campus at Stockton next to our college, they said we were aloud to film as long as we didn't get anyone in the background. when we were there we planned to film the gym, football and basketball advert. When we got there we filmed the Gym part first as the sports hall was busy. In the gym we filmed me and Daniel doing various exercise like press-ups, sit-ups, weights, running on the treadmill and on the exercise bikes. When we went to film the football advert we didn't have much time so we rushed it and when we got back and had a look at it we all agreed that it wasn't good enough and we could do better. on the same day we planned on filming the basketball advert however we didn't have much time and the basketball hoop wasn't out on this day.

Day 2: On the second day we planned to film the football and basketball scenes but the hall was busy so we came back to College and filmed the changing room scene. In the changing room scene we filmed me coming through the door, sitting on the bench and then taking off my old shoes and throwing them down on the ground. the reason we did this is because it made it look like the old shoes weren't good enough and made my performance poor, after I had taken them off and thrown them down I was given a wrapped box by Santa (Ben) and then I opened it to find a brand new pair of trainers which will help me perform better. The shoes which I unwrapped were the ones I used in the previous days filming.

Day 3: on the third and final day we went to Durham university's sports campus the same one we used in the first days filming. We also had to use a different camera which was hard to use but we got use to it and it was good quality. The staff at the University where happy for us to film there as long as we didn't get anyone in the background like before. when we went to the hall to film in turned out we had the whole hall free so we got to work right away as there was a exercise class due in later on. we started from scratch on the football footage so we did that first, I was filmed doing various tricks and shots from different places. The filming was quite hard because sometimes (most of the time) I couldn't get the right shot on target but once we had it was good. By chance the basketball hoop was out and already set up so we had a short break and then got to work on the basketball filming, he basketball filming was a long progress as was hard to get the shot on target every time. one shot took ages and was the hardest shot on that day but it looks really good so it was worth it. When we got back we looked through the footage we all agreed that the footage was good and we were all proud of it.

Editing: When it came to editing we all had our separate parts to edit, so mine was the football edit which was me playing football and doing various shots and tricks. Daniels was the basketball edit which was me doing different basketball shots and skills. Ben did the gym edit which was me and Daniel doing various workouts. On top of the individual edits we had to do a group edit which was all of the sports in one advert, me and Ben both did this but Daniels wasn't working.

Focus group: Our group held a focus group to get some feed back on our adverts so we could make changes to improve. for the feed back for my advert (football one) it wasn't too bad, the feed back for the music was that it was good however it ended to soon and it cut off as soon as the video ended they also said that it should fade out. They also said they were the same shot as the basket ball shot which some of them were similar but not the same. for the longer advert which was all of the sports together one person said that they didn't know what they were advertising and someone else wasn't keen on the music. I have added a logo at the end so it shows what is being advertised. In my advert there is a Nike logo on my shoes, shorts and t-shirt.

Here is my football advert.

Here is the advert with them all in.

Centurion Resurrection

The start of the film is when the bird is flying over the top of the city and members of the public see it, after it has flown over the city it then goes to the roman baths and lands on top of a statue of a roman. When the bird is on the statue a roman appears coming out of the baths, he walks slowly out the baths and the bird follows him. After he is out the bath the roman walks on to the street and takes his hat/helmet off and a kid comes over and puts money in it, a man who is playing the guitar then argues that it is his patch. The guy says “oi this is our spot, mine and Caesar” the roman gets on one knee and says “hale Caesar what are your commands” and the guy replies “oh you know, sit role over play dead that sort of thing” the roman looks at the child and it’s the end.

Sort film pitch

The Bet

An outgoing teen makes a joke bet at a football game and it turns serious.

For my idea I thought I would have two teens one called Sam and another called Jake. The more outgoing one Sam makes a joke bet with his friend Jake that he will bet £1000 that Newcastle (or another team) will win. His friend Jake laughs it off as a joke but there is a larger guy stood behind who hears and takes it up with Sam. Sam thinks it is a joke and sort of ignores it but the guy is serious and has a reputation of violence and getting into trouble. Later on at half time the guy comes over to the two and says you better have my money and walks off. At the end of the match the two lads see the guy walking over and they try to walk away but because everyone is leaving they can’t get out and he comes over and says if you don’t have my money by tomorrow you’ll get it. On the way back from the match Sam is on edge the whole way panicking checking every corner that no one is following, Jake just winds him up about it. When Jake gets home he goes through all of his money which he has saved and realises he still doesn’t have enough so he tells the police and they sort it out.

I think the genre is thriller/drama.

I think my story is unique because there isn’t anything like it.

My target audience is 16-18 and I think it fits in well as it teaches them not to gamble.

 3 act structure

Act 1: It is when the lads are walking to the station, waiting for the train and when they get on.

Act 2: when Sam makes a bet and the guy is alerted. The guy asks about it and makes the bet.

Act3: Sam is seen by the man at half time and at full time. Sam goes home and contacts police and it is solved.

Name: Sam

Age: 16

Gender: Male

Sam is an outgoing teen who thinks he is the best and is cocky. He also thinks he is a casual, a casual is similar to a football hooligan but tends not the be involved in the violence part as much just likes to dress like them.

Name: Jake

Age: 16

Gender: Male

Jake isn’t as outgoing as Sam and tends to try to keep Sam under control. Jake is also involved in the casual culture and also dresses like one.

Name: James Rock

Age: 20-25

Gender: Male

James Rock goes by the nick name Rock and is heavily involved in the casual culture and is also heavily involved in the violence.

For the setting I was thinking at a train station and show them waiting there. In the train if possible to show when the lads are talking and when the first part of the conflict happens. For the football ground there will be no actual footage of the game so I was thinking in the place where you go at half time or we could recreate it somewhere else. For the footage at the football ground I was going to use a cctv style of footage so you see the guy walk over to the two lads.
