Individual pitch

Today I did my individual pitch while my group where sat with me, I thought It went ok however I did struggle to explain it. It sounded a lot easier to explain in my head. Everyone else's music video ideas were really good and I would be happy doing any one of the videos.


The song I have chose was Oasis Wonderwall, these are the lyrics and my ideas.

So for the start of the video I was thinking about having a guy through a guitar at the main guy and he catches it on the neck of the guitar.

By now you should’ve somehow realized what you gotta do

At this point he starts playing the guitar and singing at the camera.

At this point there you will see a girl and then the girl looks at the guy singing and then we the girls point of view.

The guy is playing the guitar and singing towards the camera.

Goes back to the girl watching the guy playing the guitar from her point of view.

Girl is in front of the guy walking down a back country road.

There are many things that I would like to say to you but I don't know how

Girl stops walking and the guy walks up to her and sings ‘There are many things that I would like to say to you but I don't know how’ they are stood looking at each other.

Guy looks at the girl and he says ‘you're my wonderwall’

Guy gets ready to play a gig then the band take the guitar off him, he walks out of the building and see the girl standing there.

In my video there are going to be three people, two men and one woman. One of the men is going to be in the video two or three times giving the guitar to the main guy and taking the guitar off him. The woman in the video is the main guys 'crush' and is featured through out the video. For the costumes it will be in the style of the TV show This Is England, they would be wearing brands like Fred Perry and Lyle and Scott. The main character would be wearing a tartan style shirt and the other buy will be wearing a polo shirt. The woman will be wearing jeans and a polo shirt. This is the style I'm going for.

 

Finding a bag of cash

Finding a bag of cash: it was the day I found a bag of cash, I found it next to the abandoned railway track. I was with my mates looking around after college and we came across a old railway line, as we were looking at the track we saw what looked like a arrow on the track so we took it upon our selves to follow it. at the end of the track we found a black duffle bag which was full to the brim with cash. Every note was a crisp £20 note, they were in sealed bags of £1000 in each bag. me and my mates took the bag to a bush and we emptied the bag on the floor, we counted £10,000. it was a huge shock to all of us so we split it five ways and took off. my first thought would be to pay it in but £2000 in cash would be too risky so I decided to pay £200 in at a time once a month and say it was my monthly wage. After all the money was in my account I went on a shopping spree and spent everything, as I was walking back to the car with all the bags I saw two armed police officers starring at me. I dropped the bags and they ran over and arrested me I just let them take me.

Group pitch

We did a group pitch, my group was Kane, Chloe and Daniella. I thought the group pitch was going well until it was my turn to speak. I find speaking in front of people hard and I struggled to read out what I was supposed to as I was extremely nervous. As I was reading my part of the pitch I was reading fast and skipping bits out as I was nervous and I wanted it to be over. Everyone else in my group did extremely well.

Introduction

I will be analysing Jessie J’s music video who’s laughing now and oasis’s music video Wonderwall. Jessie J’s music video was produced by The Invisible Men and Ighile & James.  The genre of the music is pop whereas oasis’s is Britpop which is a subgenre of rock and pop music. In Jessie J’s video we get the idea it is a pop music video because there is a lot going on in the video, nothing is still in the video things are constantly moving whereas oasis’s video is more chilled out and most of the video includes people singing or playing instruments like drums of guitars.

In Jessie J’s video we see the lyrics of the song match what is going on in the video. One of the main examples would be when she said ‘pulled my hair’ and the girl sat behind Jessie does that. One of the other examples would be when she says ‘they kick my chair’ and we see someone kicking the chair Jessie is sat on. In Wonderwall the video doesn’t really match the lyrics one example is when the song goes ‘I don’t believe anybody feel the way I do about you now’ and it goes from a guy playing the drums to someone’s face to a clown with a puppet.   

In Jessie’s video it cuts when the beat kicks in, the first example would be when Jessie is walking though the hallway and when the beat kicks in it turns to the four bullies laughing at the side of the hallway. Another good example would e when she is sat in the class room and everyone else is too, when the beat kicks in the bully behind her moves forwards staying on her chair. When the music is faster the pace of the video changes and goes faster. One example would be when the bully pulls small Jessie’s hair the video cut to another girl and then back fast, just after this the same bully pushes her hair and it is fast paced. In Wonderwall it is pretty much the same pace the whole way though the video and it cuts from one part to another every one or two second. When the song does pick up pace it is someone playing the drums so it matches what is going on in the video. 

Throughout Jessie J’s video close-ups are used so we see the expressions on the artist or the little girls face. When the close-ups are used they are used in time with the song so one example would be when it show the face of the little Jessie and normal Jessie is singing ‘I’m still rising, I’m still rising’ when she says I’m still rising the first time it is a close-up and you see the anger on her face but then when she says it a second time she is stood up next to the bully.  The majority of the close-ups used are to show the anger on the girls faces. In the oasis video close-ups are used however the expressions on the artists or actors faces never change because they are singing.

In both videos the artists aren’t in any sort of sexual display either are the actors in the video. The costumes don’t show any sort of sexual display as the majority on the time there are kids in it and in the other video by oasis they are plain clothed. I think the main reason there are no sexual display or any sort of sexual dancing because the majority of the video includes kids and it wouldn’t match either of the songs.  

Jessie J’s music video is different to the other style of music videos she normal does. The only other one close to Who’s Laughing Now was flashing light which has characters from pitch perfect 2 in it. Her normal style of video normally includes her in bra and knickers or a bikini, this isn’t all through the video but it is seen a lot. One good example is in Bang Bang which is featuring Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj when they are all seen in tight clothes and bikini tops. With oasis the videos are normally similar; one example would be don’t look back in anger where it is a bit faster paced both the video and the song. The video champagne supernova is also similar to Wonderwall as it is the band singing and some actors in it.

I think the video Who’s Laughing Now is narrative-based because it is telling a story of when she was a little girl in school and what she went through however Wonderwall’s video has nothing to do with the video as it is the band singing and some actors.

In conclusion to what I have wrote I Jessie J’s music video is a pop video, the reason I think this is because it is fast paced in a lot of it but then it slows down in some areas, I think the fact that everyone is clothed which makes it child friendly proves my point that it is a pop music video because everyone can watch it however oasis’s video is a Britpop video as it is more chilled out and there isn’t loads of extremely fast cut or a lot going on in the video.

Thats The Life

Today I have worked with my group and thought of ideas for a sitcom. part of making and thinking of the sitcom was researching different cultures and sub-cultures, one of the things I researched was skinheads and posh/rich people. Our sitcom is called That's The Life and it will be based locally around the Stockton Teesside area. In the sitcom there will be people from different backgrounds one example is Pete the skinhead another was Russell the posh kid and more will be revealed later on.

When I'm older

When I'm older I would like to be either a film producer or editor. Other things also interest me like cars and motorcycles so maybe be something to do with them.

My favourite music video

My favourite music video is Maroon 5 sugar, the reason it is my favourite is because it has random acts of kindness through out the video. In the video you see the band go around to random peoples weddings and play for them. When they are going from wedding to wedding they drive around in a old convertible which all of the band are in. When the band arrive to the weddings they go through the back entrance and surprise people. At some of the weddings the bride and groom are surprised some are confused and others look like they don't have a clue who they are. This is the video.
